Remembering Blossom Dearie

Call That Jazz in cooperation with Kenilworth Presbyterian Church is presenting a concert Thursday, June 18th @ 7pm. The concert will feature Sharon LaMotte and band in a tribute to the music and memory of jazz vocal and piano legend Blossom Dearie who passed away this year. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the Church.
In what promises to be an intimate, touching evening of music, this concert will reach audiences of all musical tastes. Often compared to Blossom's direct, subtle, swing style, Sharon LaMotte will be performing material from Dearie's songbook as well as her own material that relates to the great Blossom's humor and unique delivery of song.
LaMotte will be joined by the Bill Gerhardt Trio featuring the one of a kind Sonny Thornton on drums and New York transplant, Zack Page on bass. The music will range from swinging jazz to "story tunes" of a quasi-caberet quality and will have something for all audiences. Dyed in the wool jazz fans, those new to the genre, Blossom Dearie followers, people who've never heard of her aw well as those who simply appreciate high quality, sophisticated music from the American Song Book will be sure to experience a beautiful evening of music.
