Although I looked in the newspaper for an account of this event, I could not find it. This, in itself, bothers me. Thanks for the info.

i sent a message to the police chief, at your recommendation, and it seems others have too, since Mr. Hogan sent a reply this morning. i think if more kenilworth residents can email him it would be great. i just expressed my concerns and requested more frequent random patrols through the neighborhood to increase their presence. it does sound like they responded very quickly and effectively on saturday, but prevention is much much better.
let's keep our kenilworth safe!

Kenilworth Residents,
Early this morning at 2:10 AM, a young couple was returning from downtown to a relative's house on Castle Street when they witnessed a car crash into a car parked on Castle Street. They followed this car to get the license number and ended up confronting the man and woman in the car on Warwick Road, letting them know they were calling the Police. The female in this vehicle retrieved a handgun and shot the man 3 times, once in the face, once in the arm and once in abdomen. He is currently in surgery at Mission. Police arrived and arrested the woman and also the man. At this time I do not know any more details.

Obviously, this is a very disturbing turn of events in our neighborhood. The gun shots at Caledonia Road and Richard Street a few weeks ago and now this shooting leaves me feeling worried about Kenilworth.

I would like for everyone to e mail Chief of Police William Hogan and and make some noise about what would appear to be a dramatic "shift" in the supposed safety of this neighborhood. Please do this !!!

As for our Community Watch, now more than ever, we need to be vigilant about reporting any suspicious persons and vehicles.
There is obviously a "criminal element" travelling through this neighborhood, possibly living in the neighborhood and / or visiting our neighborhood.
It will take all of us informing the Police to get results.

Please talk to your neighbors about these events and spread the word to all around you to look out for each other.
Everyone should know at least your immediate neighbors and agree to provide each other with a "zone of security". The Holiday season typically sees a spike in crime.

The Police Dispatch number is 252-1110

Emergency is 911

Kenilworth Residents,
Tonight at 6:45 PM, residents in the vicinity of Caledonia Road and Richard Street heard 4 gunshots. Police were called.

Again at 8:10 PM, 5 more shots were heard in the exact same area.

Shell casings were found at this Caledonia Road / Richard Street intersection and there are holes in the Stop sign and a Community Watch sign. Police responded again and residents gave the Police the shell casings. The casings are larger than a 22 caliber and smaller than a 9mm...possibly a 380 caliber.

In this time frame, three black males were seen on foot on Kenilworth Road, heading towards Tunnel Road. All had baggy pants, and puffy coats with hoods. One had a red ball cap on. Another black male with a grayish colored coat with a hood was on Kenilworth in the vicinity of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church. All of these individuals looked to be in their late teens early twenties.

If anyone heard or saw anything please let me know as soon as possible.

If you hear gunshots ( even if you are not sure if they are gunshots ) call the Police at once.
As always report any suspicious individuals or vehicles in our neighborhood.

Direct Number to Police 252-1110
Emergency 911

Kenilworth Residents,
An alert Kenilworth resident saw a group of four teenaged boys walking along Forest Hill Drive on Moday, October 26th around 4 PM. One of these boys was seen tagging a street sign with graffiti.
Police were called and after talking to the witness and all of the boys, the one boy has confessed and will be charged with tagging at least 3 street signs along Forest Hill Drive.

Forest Hill Drive is being hit very hard with multiple graffiti tags. Anyone along Forest Hill Drive, please keep an eye out especially as some of these groups walk home from school.

Over the past year, this neighborhood has seen over 75 street signs tagged with graffiti. This is a serious problem and we need everyone's help in looking for these vandals and reporting them immediately to Police.
It is imperative that you get a good description and the direction of travel. Police will respond quickly if they are able to as they are well aware of the problems we are experiencing.

In addition to the graffiti vandalism, the Kenilworth Presbyterian Church's playground was demolished about 4 months ago by some teenaged boys who were also identified and are awaiting a work day at the church.

This is a slippery slope these boys are on. I have seen this many times before and if they do not learn their lesson, these incidents may lead to more serious crimes.

Please...everyone get involved in the youth of this neighborhood. They need to know they are a part of this great neighborhood and will most definately be held accountable for their actions.

I would advise everyone to call Police and let them handle these incidents unless you are good friends with the family. Many parents these days... sadly do not appreciate others correcting their kids.
POLICE DISPATCH 252-1110

Thank You,
Robert

i noticed some new graffiti today. it's at the house on the corner of forest hill and wyoming - it is surrounded by a wood fence and the graffiti is on the fence, on the wyoming side. i couldn't tell what it said or what it was, as i was driving by when i noticed it. i don't remember it being there yesterday when i drove by. not sure if the homeowner knows it's there either?

Kenilworth Residents,
I just received this e mail from Beth & John Parrott on Sheridan:
"October 13, Tuesday morning, between 9am and 12:30pm, someone entered our house at 26 Sheridan Rd. This person emptied a Trader Joe's shopping bag (half moon shaped, brown with red handles) and proceeded to empty the silver chest in the dining room of 22 place settings of Gorham Chantilly Sterling Silver flatware as well a couple of dozen of various antique silver serving pieces. Nothing else appears to have been disturbed. Nothing was ransacked. Several other valuable items were bypassed. I did not notice the silver was gone until Sunday night when I was setting the table for dinner. A police report has been filed. Just wanted to put this out there in case someone in the neighborhood might have seen something or someone suspicious. Remember to lock your house. If anyone has any thought, my number is 254-2315.

Thanks.
Beth and John Parrott

Everyone, please spread the word to all of your neighbors regarding this home break in. If anyone saw anything suspicious please contact Beth and John. I would also like to know if anyone saw anything. Did anyone see someone walking with a Trader Joe's bag matching the description given? It sounds like a pretty recognizable shopping bag.

This would be an appropriate time for all of us to remember to be vigilant and contact Police if you witness ANYTHING suspicious.

The direct Police Dispatch number is 252-1110. Call 911 for immediate emergencies.

Kenilworth Residents,

Someone has painted yellow spray paint on the nice play structure at
Kenilworth Park. If anyone has any info regarding this incident please get
with me.

Also a resident on Lakewood reports that there has been vandalism in the
wooded area ( trail ) at the intersection of Waverly and Lakewood. See
below:

Robert
Within the last few days several small trees were maliciously slashed and
cut down beside a woodsy walking path off of Lakewood Dr. near
the bottom of Waverly. In addition, a small play camp put together on a
nearby stream by some local young neighbors (with permission), was also
destroyed. Information leading to the identification of these vandals will
be greatly appreciated and immediately acted upon.

If anyone has info regarding either one of these incidents, please e mail me
as soon as possible.

Robert
