Bears:
Residents on Arden Road, Reservoir Road and Lakewood Drive (at Waverly) have seen a bear over the past two days.
I saw a bear myself on Thurland Rd in the area of Wyoming/Keebler and Forest Hill.
Both incidents appear to be bird food related. Please bring in your feeders. Make sure sure dogs don't get too close. Bears are coming down to load up for winter when pickings will be slim.
Coyote:
Several of the neighbors on Thurland Ave have seen what appears to be a coyote roaming around o…

Hi! I am new to this site, though I have been a resident of Kenilworth for about a year now. I am looking for information regarding any neighborhood guidelines for small storage buildings (in addition to county building codes, etc.) If anyone has info on a contact person or written guidelines, I would appreciate hearing from them. Well, thanks! Now that I know you are here, I will check back regularly.

Just posted my first blog - I suspect it is something akin to birthing a baby - just overcoming the inertia of it all. Feel free to view and comment.

Have you always wanted to play the angel Gabriel? Is there a shepherd or a wise person within you just waiting to pop out? This coming Sunday morning at 10 am we are hoping at everyone (children ages 0-101) will come prepared to eat donuts and don costumes as we get ready for a Christmas pageant to end all Christmas pageants. At 11 we will begin our morning worship which will mostly be singing carols and re=telling the original Christmas story using anyone so inclined. There will be angel wings,…

The Tingle family has been in Kenilworth for 4 generations. Trey & I moved into our little abode in 1980 as youngsters in our 20's. At that time. the neighborhood was full of the "greatest generation". We still have some of those folks, but we've lost many through death or moves for one reason or another. Many of the names on this list are unfamiliar to me. You've moved your families in to fill these houses. You call them "home" now.
I feel a need to tell you about them. They were wonderful…

A few years ago there was talk of a passenger railroad depot for Asheville in Biltmore. Since the old Biltmore Depot is now a resturant, and very small, it is out I guess. The next best place, I think, would be the old Southern Railway office and freight building at the end of short Mcdowell. The circus used to camp there so it has a good side track. It is also close to Biltmore entrance which would be great for Amtrack tourists stopping in Asheville. If anyone knows something about any details,…

I saw before me a river that ran from south to north. From one end of that still ribbon of water to the other traveled a group of people – stewards of the river – and they cared for the land through which river flowed. The stewards taught others all they knew about caring for each section of the river, as each phase transitioned gently into the next with changing topography and a special set of needs. The manager of the stewards was a not a person having an executive disposition. Rather, he was…
